"Play is the highest form of research". Albert Einstein
We believe all children are unique and have individual learning styles so we aim to provide an environment where all these styles can be addressed.
The toys and equipment in all areas of the nursery have been carefully chosen with special consideration to the age of the child, the child’s safety, their educational development, and opportunity for imaginative play and social interaction. In order that children may experience a wide variety of learning situations, on going activities will be available for use throughout the day. These will included role play, construction activities, junk modelling, paints, sand, water, dough or clay, books , information technology, and activities which encourage the development of a number of control and co-ordination skills. These activities will be both inside the nursery and available when playing outside.
This approach encourages independence and allows the children to develop their own personality and creates an environment where a child can learn through active play. The activities also allow the children to fail as they discover new learning. Babies and toddlers will be bathed in language from the nursery workers. They will frequently be given the opportunities to discover the necessary experiences of sand, dough, water and paints, under appropriate supervision.
Other activities which will enable the child to express themselves will be provided through stories, singing, dancing and co-operative games. Outdoor play is available, under supervision, during all sessions, in all weather. We have appropriate outdoor clothing to cover all the seasons.
We take our inspiration from these people...
